My friend is in Punjab and want to start business in Punjab what should he must start and how much investment?

1. Punjab is a very much a agricultural land. So, it all deends on wht sort of product ur friend wanna get into. If it consumer products, its always better to have a market study of tht demography. Understand the needs and put in the thought process of how to set up the business, do start on small scale and after the evalutaion of the percent of sales over a period of time u can think of inveting more and bring in more products according to the need of the surrounding market.
2. For starting business investment is not important. What is needed is Find a need fill it. Find a problem solve it. If I have the answer for the above questions I will start business anywhere in the world.

4. I am based in the US and I do own a business. I am not familiar with the area and you did not mentioned anything about the type of the business. after all these years, I do know that there are three Ls that you have to always consider. Location, Location, Location! Do study the market. Do not always go to the cheapest locations as then you would have to spend more in marketing to bring the customers in. Depending on the area and people income, you may or may not able to open the type of the business you want on your desired area. last but least, always plan everything ahead of time. people always start their businesses without doing any research and this is the reason that why almost 98% of the businesses go bankrupt within 3 years. write a detail business plan and think about all the aspects. such as expenses, the way that you are going to attract customers, cash flow, investments, loans, etc.
5. I must of failed Geography in high school or something LOL. Where exactly is Punjab? What type of business does your friend want to start? There's so many different types out there it's incredible. How about a home based business? They're cheaper to start then a traditional business. Not much overhead (depending on the one you chose) and easier to keep up. There are a lot of different really good home based business opportunities out there that are international. Your friend needs to look through them and find the one that is right for him. I don't know what his or her interests are, so I'm not sure which one to point you out to.
